Passphrases you can actually remember.
Random words beat clever passwords. Every word below is chosen with your browser’s cryptographic random number generator from a list of 7,776, so each one adds about 12.9 bits of entropy. Nothing is sent or stored anywhere.

Entropy, assuming the attacker knows exactly how it was generated.

Average time to crack offline at 100 billion guesses per second.
Good to know
- Use a passphrase like this for the few secrets you must memorize: your password manager, disk encryption, a key backup. Let the password manager generate everything else.
- Quantum computers don’t meaningfully change this math. Grover’s algorithm can’t be usefully applied to guessing against a slow, salted password hash at scale.
- Don’t pick your favorite from several generated options; choosing reduces the entropy.
